Welfare covers a range of issues such as safeguarding, anti-bullying, poor practice in coaching and run leading, and disciplinary matters. We expect all club members to respect the Club Values and follow the Steel City Striders code of conduct. If you have any welfare concerns you can speak to one of the Steel City Striders Welfare Officers.

They are Lucy Mottram, Cara Hanson, Chris Smith and Nicole Nield.

Lucy has been running since 2002 and finally settled with Striders in 2018. She can be found run leading at Heeley and occasionally at other venues. She is a nurse lecturer by day, Ed Doc student by night as well as being a trustee for the Sheffield Parent Carer Forum.

Cara has been a Strider for 7 years and was a run leader for 5 years before qualifying as a coach. She is venue rep for Hillsborough, a job she has done for the last two years, as well as leading runs from there, including her famous headtorch runs.

Chris has also been a Strider for about 7 years. He is a run leader at Hillsborough and Heeley as well as being a visual impaired guide leader and raises lots of money for charity.

Nicole joined Striders nearly 10 years ago. She has sat on the Committee and has been lead welfare officer since inception of the role. She has been a run leader for 4 years and can usually be found at Heeley on a Monday evening.
