Twice a year Masters athletes have the opportunity to represent their regional Masters athletic club in a competition against the other Masters clubs in Britain. For Striders this usually means representing the Northern Masters club and over the years a number of us have competed – Carol Beattie, Louise Rowley, Dot Kesterton, Jed Turner and myself. Athletes compete in the over 35, over 50, over 60 or over 70 categories.
This year Kate Scott was selected to compete for Northern Masters at the Indoor match in London in the 400m and 800m FV60 category. She finished in a fine 3rd place in both races, clocking 78.43 in the 400m and 2.59.86 in the 800m earning 14 points for the team. On this occasion she didn’t get to show off her high jump and shot putt skills!
Northern Masters finished sixth out of the nine teams. The indoor competition is always a bit of a challenge for us due to the travelling distance to London and we’ll look forward to the outdoor competition in the summer which is more local.

Great work Kate and looking forward to a good group of Striders representing Northern Masters at the Summer outdoor event.
