1st April 2024
Daylight has been saved once again – which can only mean one thing: the return of mid-week racing!
The Trunce, for those that don’t know, is a series on nine 3.75 mile fell races, run along the same route in Oxspring. Points are awarded for the first 20 finishers in each category, and at the end of the series, champions are crowned. The course starts along the Trans Pennine Trail, before turning off through fields, up hills, woodland, muddy tracks, more hills, and 3 river crossings. Heavy rain in the run-up to the race made for a particularly muddy event, with the river crossing being alarmingly deep!
In a slight change to the format this year, only the first eight races will score points, leaving race nine as a fancy dress fun run. Congratulations to all who ran, especially the debutantes.
The race was won by Dominic Fielding, in a time of 26:33. First female was Kattie Walshaw, in a time of 29:24.
