Race date: 3 March 2024

The Trafford 10k is billed as one of the fastest in the UK and attracts some seriously quick athletes. The race was won by Victor Urquhart Smångs 28:57 (Swe) and  Calli Thackery (Hallam) 31:10 recently confirmed as representing GB in the marathon at the Paris Olympics this summer. There were 1528 finishers with 26 men under thirty minutes and eighteen women under thirty four minutes. Over 350 entries failed to turn up and there was one dq – wonder why?

This year we saw Abbie Pearse improve her women’s club record to 35:01, a time most men in Steel City can only dream about whilst new to the club Jon Smith ran a creditable 38:37 – not bad for a man who only really started running seriously six months ago. Jon has been training on the track on Thursday evening since January so there’s bound to be more to come and Abbie has vowed to get 34 minutes on her watch.
