Race Date: Wednesday 17th April 2024

The SYCAA Road League continued on April 17th, moving closer to home with the 5 miler at Lodge Moor.

The route: Heading towards Redmires from The Three Merry Lads, runners take a couple of sharp lefts, before Roper Hill makes a neat and steep first major climb; this hill marks the beginning of a large loop. Mile three is mostly downhill, setting up another climb to test the legs in mile four. Things level out back at the foot of Roper Hill, completing the loop section. From there, the return to the start/finish is just over a mile.

Weather was bright and chilly on the day and featured a dazzling second climb into the sunshine.

While overall numbers were slightly down on race #1, Strider numbers crept upwards, with 55 Striders among 354 runners lining up at Lodge Moor. No change in the winners though, with another Barnsley AC double for Kai Sunman in the men’s race (27:08) and Ruby Sykes in the women’s (30:23).
