Scarborough Rock Challenge Walk (Long)

Challenge Date: Saturday 13th January 2024

Organised by the The Long Distance Walkers Association, Scarborough Rock is a time limited walking challenge. The route takes in a section of the North Yorkshire coast through Scarborough, Oliver’s Mount, moorland, Hackness, Burniston & Scalby. Two distances were offered this year, 16 miles and a longer 26 mile walk for which this is the result. Entry included refreshments en route, a hot meal at the finish and a badge & certificate. Lone Strider Matt Gibson said it was “excellent value”.

Matt was one of 126 walkers who lined up for the long walk. First man to finish was Stephen Kirk in a time of 03:58:00. Karen Saward was the first woman, in a time of 05:14:00. No club or category information provided.
