The Peak District 70th Birthday Bash was originally an event for runners and hikers held in April 2022 in celebration of the UK’s original national park’s 70th anniversary, while at the same time promoting and supporting the work of the Peak District National Park Foundation charity. Back for 2024 (although still called the 70th Birthday Bash!) this circular, 70k route starts and finishes in Castleton, with checkpoints at Hayfield, Edale, Bamford, Hathersage, and Bradwell – and with a few hills here and there, included a very reasonable 2600 metres of elevation gain (it’s called the Peak District for a reason!).
