Race Date: Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th October 2024
A Nice Work event with 10k and Half Marathon trail races both on the Saturday and Sunday. Races start and finish at Bakewell Station and are largely flat out and back routes on the tarmac and hard track of the Monsal Trail (there’s a slight uphill gradient on the out sections). The half marathon route takes you through four old railway tunnels and across the Monsal Viaduct, while the 10k turnaround point is inside the first tunnel.
SCS had no runners in the Sunday 10k, this page features results for the other three races. If you’re tempted for 2025, there’s an April Monsal Trail Weekend as well as this October edition.
Four Striders were among 121 runners who lined up for the Saturday 10k. The men’s race was won by Sam Charles (unaffiliated) in a time of 00:38:10. Jenny Thompson (unaffiliated) won the women’s race in a time of 00:46:04.

Stephen Doherty was the sole Strider among 269 runners who lined up for the Saturday Half. The men’s race was won by Mark Juba (unaffiliated) in a time of 01:22:23. Lucy Cooke of Sale Harriers Manchester won the women’s race in a time of 01:29:27.

Three Striders were among 291 runners who lined up for the Sunday Half. The men’s race was won by Steve Geraghty of Skegness & District RC in a time of 01:13:07. Lyndsey Eastman of Ackworth Road Runners & AC won the women’s race in a time of 01:24:29.
