Race Date: 9th June 2024
Attracting runners from across West and South Yorkshire and over into Saddleworth, the Marsden 10 Mile is a hilly beast of a race, run on a mixture of road and trail.
The race starts from the village Conservative Club and rises out of Marsden, up Deer Hill and then down into the valley again, before a second vicious climb up Wessenden Head Road to the top. Runners are then rewarded with a fast three-mile downhill on trails, all the way down the Wessenden Valley and back into the village, to be rewarded with a heaving cake table at the end.
I was the only Strider to turn out for the race, and was very happy to win the v40 prize for the second year in a row, taking home a bottle of Marsden 10-branded white wine.
The race was won by Adam Crosland of Stadium Runners in 1:04:36, while first woman over the line was Rachel Munday of Macclesfield Harriers in 1:20:41.
