Race Date: Tuesday 4th June 2024
Race Report by Martin Downham
As this race is in the SCS Trail Championship there were at least 16 Striders in attendance for the 38th edition of the “infamous” Kimmy Kanter.
Over the years the course has been tweaked (in part due to changes in surface conditions and access to Grange Landfill). Some in attendance remember a different finish. The popularity of the event has also changed, with 25 different running clubs now turning up for this race.
This 2 lap course starts with an open downhill section, perfect for the “masters of descent” ( Kevin ) amongst us. This quickly leads to a pinch point (and a small queue) as the race enters the woods. The paths are mostly narrow, so passing is hard. Knowledge gained on the first lap does however help in planning possible manoeuvres on the second lap.
