Race Date: 25th June, 2024
Distance: 5.25 Miles (approx)
Definitely better than watching paint dry, or England play their last group game. There were only 8 Striders registered for this, and only 5 turned up, on one of the rare hot evenings of this summer.
Hannah, Ruth, Paddy, Jamie and I gathered in the courtyard of the Royal Oak in Handsworth, pinned-on numbers and proceeded to the start line down the lane. I’ve run this one four times now, once in a torrential downpour, and the other three times on hot summer nights, and it’s always an enjoyable route – a bit more room to get past people than some of the similar races, a couple of challenging hills, but quite a bit of down too.
The marshalls, including our own Ady Good, were all very cheery, considering they were missing an England match!
Not sure what happened to the buffet, it didn’t appear, but there were lots of spot prizes as usual.
The race was won by Mark Prince (HRRC) in 00:35:40 and Chloe Potter (Hallamshire Harriers) in 00:37:19 .
