Race Date: Tuesday 28th May 2024
The 144th Hallam Chase saw 80 runners take on a damp course albeit in bright and breezy conditions. The route is 3 and a quarter miles out and back from the Hallam Football and Cricket Ground, down into the Rivelin Valley and up the other side, with the turn around at Christ Church, Stannington. The race uses a handicap system, with runners setting off according to an estimated finish time, slowest first.
Steel City Striders featured in the prizes for the third year in a row, with Rob Hale winning the men’s race, and John Rawlinson taking first in the VM50 category.
Eleven Striders were among 84 runners who lined up for the Hallam Chase Fell Race. Winner of the women’s race (and overall winner) was Harriet Wingfield of Hallamshire Harriers in a time of 46:40 (Actual 28:00). Strider Rob Hale won the men’s race in a time of 46:57 (Actual 33:27).
