Sunday the 18th of February saw three Striders on the start line in Blackpool for the Great North West half marathon.The weather gods were certainly kind to us,it was dry, mild with very little wind,perfect running conditions,surely almost unheard of in Blackpool in February!

The race started near the North Pier and consisted of two 1.5 mile loops before heading along the coast towards Little Bispham to complete two 5 mile loops.The course is predominantly flat and definitely PB Potential.

The race was superbly organised by Fylde Coast runners and definitely recommended if you’re chasing that PB(Dependant on the weather)

There were 665 finishers with the race being won by Sam Atkinson in a time of 1.12.01.

First female was Yasmin Small of Bingley Harriers in 1.25.00.64.

The 3 Striders were

Sarah Thorne: 4th female in 1.29.47(PB)

Tud Jackson: 2nd male vet 60 in 1.36.31

Angie Smith: 2nd female vet 55 in 1.37.36(Missing out on 1st spot by 1 second!)

Also worth a mention were 4 friends from Sheffield RC who completed the race with PB’S to celebrate.
