Race Date 24 November 2024

This event was the final chance to gain points in the Steel City Road Race Championships attracting forty seven entrants from the club with others unable to compete as the race had sold out. (There is already a waiting list for when entries open next year). On a rather wet day Annie Chambers was first Steel City across the line in 38:44 smashing her own pb when her target was actually sub 40. Also showing the boys the way, Caroline Brock lowered her own F40 club record finishing third F40 whilst Jacqui Herring gave the scorers some work to do with second F50. It was good to see Ben Jones back in harness who along with nine other Steel City managed to break forty minutes although admittedly he was five minutes off his best.

Starting and finishing at Doncaster Race Course, the race itself is basically comprised of out and backs along the A18 with  loop around the city centre. Not particularly scenic but pancake flat and as the results demonstrate is a quick track if the going is good. but a road race anywhere near Doncaster is quite a rare event these days
