Carsington Water Half Marathon – 22nd June 2024

Race report by Hannah Wright

I set off nice and early on a Saturday morning to get to Carsington water for the half marathon. I ran the winter half the other year and have always wanted to come back in the summer without the ice and minus temperatures.

Ample paid parking and toilet facilities at Carsington Water. Parked up and went to collect my number and timing chip which went round your shoe laces. Applied my factor 50 sun cream and chub rub and was ready to set off. Due to the heat I made sure I carried water and electrolytes

There was a good vibe at the event village and a pre race warm up. We were lined up at the start line in predicted race times. There were pacers at this event.

Then we were off… the race starts with an out and back section then a loop around the reservoir. Stunning views and an undulating course which fired up the quads. There were a few water stations on the course… due to the heat I feel there should been more frequent water stations available as runners were struggling.

Once across the finish line you receive your finishers medal and goodies. I then headed over to the stretch tent for some shade and a foam roller. Grabbed an ice lolly and admired the beautiful day before heading back home.

My results took a few days to come through as there were two Hannah Wrights running that day. After an email this was quickly resolved and results updated.
