Race Date – Saturday 15th April 2023

This low-key event which was organised by It’s Grim up North, was multi-distance.(5k, 10k, half marathon, 20 miler, marathon, and ultra.)  The routes for all the races was along the Huddersfield Narrow Gauge Canal and used out-and-back for different length courses.   It was scenic but very wet underfoot.   It wasn’t a mass start for the 20 mile race as expected, and the starts were staggered.   There were insufficient marshalls and the marshalls weren’t in place in time.  Most runners on the 10k reached the turn around point before the marshall, and so ran significantly more than the advertised distance.  The advertised prizes for the winners didn’t materialise.  Overall the organisation of this race was disappointing, although all the other runners were very supportive and encouraging.

One Strider ran.  The winner of the 20 mile race was Robin Moran (no club, no category) in 2:40:47.  First lady was Suzanne Robinson (no club no category) in 2:46:51.  For full results see  Sithee at Slawit, 15/04/2023 : : my.race|result (raceresult.com)
