An unbelievably good weekend of adventure in the hills of North Wales. With the weather set on shuffle; everything from autumn sunshine, freezing wind, hill fog and heavy rain plus some of the most challenging terrain the UK has to offer, this was an edition to be remembered.
Visiting North Wales for the first time since 1987 and the first time in the Carneddau & Glyderau ever, this was a unique opportunity to explore these stunning mountains in a unique way.
Day 1: An amazing day on the Carneddau & Glyderau in North Wales. From a fantastic sunrise to challenging conditions on the summit ridges. With tough navigation and rough ground to cover right up to the spectacular light show over Tryfan and the Ogwen Valley. Competitors faced typical OMM conditions but were rewarded with some stunning mountain views and a pretty luxurious overnight camp before darkness fell and the weather moved in.
Day 2: An amazing day of exploring a whole new set of checkpoints made up for a fairly wet and windy night in camp. Conditions defied the forecast, with (mostly) clear summits, a freshening wind and some stunning light in the hills. Competitors faced more steep climbs and challenging ground but it was all smiles at the finish line despite the 6am bagpipe alarm call.
