Race Date: Thursday 3rd August 2023
Race Report by Ady Good
This was the 7th race in the KMR series 2023.
It’s a race which is just under 4 miles around the streets and fields of Braithwell.
Number collection took place in the beer garden of the Butchers Arms in Braithwell then a short walk to the starting point on Auserfield Lane at 7pm.
We ran down the lane for about half a mile before turning right into a field, going through the field I noticed a few Jumps presumably for horses, which a runner behind me commented on asking if we had to jump them? Luckily we didn’t have to.
The next mile was back onto the road which was slightly downhill so I really enjoyed it especially running in a pack of about 3/4 of us. I really felt great after 2 miles and believed that a 5k PB could have been on the cards, but then the 3rd mile was the toughest of the race we turned back on to a rough track which was slightly uphill and was muddy with puddles in certain areas. We then went back into the field with the horse jumps and back on to the lane up to the finish. I pushed myself again in the final half Mile.
We then headed back to the pub for a pint and chip butties.
Really great event which I would recommend. I have absolutely loved the KMR series and for only £5 a race is a great deal.
