Race Date: Sunday 2nd July 2023
An undulating route on track, tarmac and grass, setting out from the market town of Ashbourne in the Derbyshire Dales, and looping out into the Peak District and Dovedale. Last year the Ashbourne Half featured in our Road Race Championships, prompting a mini Strider invasion; this year’s slimmed down club contingent consisted of Helen Royles-Jones, Chris Froud and Kate Waddicor, with Kate taking first place in the FV60 category.
Our three Striders were among 219 runners who lined up for the Ashbourne Half Marathon. Andy Harding of Heanor Running Club won the men’s race in a time of 01:14:44. The women’s race was won by Diane McVey of Wilmslow Running Club in a time of 01:28:10.
