What a fantastic March evening ! Standing round on the start line at Oxspring, in teeshirts at 6.45pm, it felt like the start of Summer. This was the first one of the 9 scheduled Trunce races of 2022. There was a good crowd of over 280 runners with a good representation from Striders. The route was different to the last time I’d done it in 2019, but apparently they did have a Covid Trunce last year using a broadly similar route. The first and last 400 m were fast along the Transpennine Trail. In between that was steady hills, steep hills, 3 river crossings and my favourite – the downhill wood section. Great variety all in 3.8 miles. If you haven’t done it, it’s a good fun evening out with a wide range of runners. And there always some great photos.
16 Striders ran. The race winner was Chris Andrade (MSen Unattached) in 27:31, and Zanthe Wray (FSen Unattached) in 30:29. Next Trunce is April 11th.
