Race Date: Saturday 19th November 2022
1 full and 3 half Striders made the journey across the Lancashire for this iconic and brutal fell race.
This is a fell race that easily passes the Phil Howson VFM test. £10 (payable by cheque only, postal entry) will get you 17 miles of fell running, with 6 brutally steep hills, 3 of them in the last third of the race, some mental descents including one called ‘Geronimo’ and a free t-shirt. For those of you who love this kind of thing, ie punishing yourself for no reason and walking strangely for the next two days, this is for you. I can’t recommend it highly enough. The icing on the cake was the weather. Whilst it was lashing down in Sheffield, we got clear skies and crisp temperatures. Oh and the cafe at the car park across the road from the start sells Wainwright’s beer. Perfect!!
The men’s race was won by Harry Bolton of Keswick AC in 2.21.39. The women’s race was won by Anna Llewellyn of Lonsdale FR in 2.52.47.Let the record state that I was not the last Nick Burns in the race either.
