The Sheffield Tententen returned on Sunday 9th of October, for the 12th Edition of “one of the UK’s premier trail 10k races”.

Its an exciting and creative multi-terrain trail 10k, attracting over 1000 runners each year. The event has a great atmosphere, and is very well supported. The first edition was on the 10th October 2010, hence the funny name!

This is an inclusive event, attracting a wide range of running abilities from those completing their first ever 10k, to those who have represented their country at the elite level. It’s not your regular road race, it is run on grass, road, paved paths and flowing woodland trails. It’s a really balanced mix, though the course does have a few lumps and bumps, twists and turns, and all adds to the challenge and fun.

This was part of the Striders’ trail championships so it’s unsurprising that there were lots of Striders present; I’ve found fifty five but there may be others – let me know and we’ll add you. Lots of great performances from Striders too; Stephen Schubeler was 4th overall, Matt Rimmer was 1st M40-49, Sarah Allcard was 1st F40-49, Paddy Treehowes was 2nd M50-59, Kate Scott was 2nd F50-59, Helen Eberlin was 2nd F70+, Robert Cook was 3rd M30-39 and Claire Wren was 3rd F30-39.

The first male athlete home was Leo Horsham of Hallam Harriers, in a time of 35.12 whilst the first female finisher was Saskia Huxham, also of Hallamshire Harriers, in a time of 42.03.
