Race Date: Sunday 2nd October 2022
Anyone who has run the London Marathon knows how special the event is and the place it forever holds in your heart. Starting at Greenwich Park, Blackheath, wave after wave of runners set off after months of hard work and dedication to get to the start line. This year there were over 40,000 runners who took to the streets of London taking in those famous landmarks such as the Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge, Whitehall and Buckingham Palace.
The elite men’s race was won by Amos Kipruto from Kenya in 02:04:39. The elite women’s race was won by Yalemzerf Yehualaw of Ethiopia in 02:17:26. Times most of us are in awe of.
Looking at the mass participation event, the first man to make it home on the day was Thomas Frith of Woodford Green AC in a time of 02:18:35. The first woman over the line was Hannah Alderson of Bristol and West AC in a time of 02:35:56.
