Race Date: Sunday 25th September 2022
When arranging a trip to the family up north, always check the race calendar. The weekend of 24th/25th was set as a weekend to see family and conveniently Keswick half was on so I dragged my Dad, Syd, along to cheer me on. Those of you who know Syd through his RSR stage 11 marshalling role will know I will have received plenty of support.
The first two thirds of this race is a challenging and scenic 1200ft quiet country lane half marathon. However, the final 4 miles is just a disappointing slog along the busy(ish) B5289 from Grange back to Keswick. It’s the third time I’ve completed this race and managed to improve my 2018 time by a minute but was down by 2 minutes on my 2017 time.
Very relaxing and friendly atmosphere and most importantly for Syd, cheap food and cheap beer at the hosting venue, Keswick Rugby Club. I’d still recommend this half for fun but certainly not a PB
The men’s race was won by Sam Stead of Keswick AC in 1.16.39. The women’s race was won by Marie Lee of Dch Run Club in 1.28.11
