Race Date: Sunday 21st November 2021
In keeping with the philosophy of opening up new routes to as many people as possible, the Trail 10 moved for the first time from its original hosting venue of Whirlow to Bradway. The route was beautiful through the woods and along the river but required concentration as there were quite a few loops. As with Whirlow, it accomodated part of the RSR route, this time the wonderful steps up through Lady Springs Wood – everyone’s favourite climb 🙂
Dave, Rob and I marked out the course on a crisp (and cold) morning and I think we did a pretty good job. A few people went a little astray but that’s all part of the learning process. Feedback afterwards was most welcome and a few course and marshalling tweaks will be made for next time we run here.
The 31 runners that took part had a good time and were well supported by a small but merry band of marshals – thank you all for giving up your time – it wouldn’t work without you.
Next time we are planning to move to Redmires, provisional date of Sunday 2nd January, so save this date.
The race was won by Sam Evans (who set the course record and also holds the Whirlow course record) in 44.08. First woman home was Strider Helen Royles Jones in 56.24. Well done and thank you to everyone who came along to give it a go – hopefully you all had a good time.
