Race date: Friday, 6 August, 2021
Distance: 10.9km (7.1 miles)
Ascent: 486m (1535ft) – Category BM
After a diverted course in 2019 and no course at all in 2020, the Salt Cellar was back in all its treacherous, lung-busting glory. With terrain from moorland to trail to barely-there-but-definitely-slippery mud track there was something for everyone, even if that was just the bottle of Farmer’s Ale at the end.
Massive thanks should go to the organisers and marshals who gave up so much of their time and braved midges, hills and mud to make the race happen. Well done all!
Of the 151 finishers, Dark Peak’s Jonathan Crickmore was first home in 52:53.4. First woman was Strider Abbie Pearse, in 1:04:11.2, followed soon after by Rachel Thorley for a Striders one-two!
