With a pancake flat course, this event (cancelled due to Covid-19 in 2020) has the potential for good times although proximity to the North Sea can mean that the weather has the ability to interfere with matters. Well, the weather certainly did interfere but not in the manner anticipated as the sun beat down with temperatures rising to the upper twenties. Our spies tell us that intense heat rising from the dual carriageway at about half way appeared to be the hardest section to navigate and we have reports of athletes requiring medical attention on the course due to the heat. Nevertheless, this failed to stop Jordan Moat from taking thirty seconds off his pb with surely more to come in better conditions.

With chip timing and a staggered start (start time printed on your race number) first man home was Lewis Jagger (Sheffied & Dearne) 31:18 with Georgina Weston (Rotherham) first lady in 38:07. Three other clubmates duelled in the sun together with the 1686 other finishers.
