Race Date: Sunday 8th March 2020
Skillfully organised by the Yorkshire Veterans Athletic Association in connection with Richard Pegg enterprises and ably supported by a team of Steel City Striders volunteers, this XC meet was carried out without a hitch.
There were 3 different races, one a 5k and two others both 10k, around a 2.5km loop which offered some decent challenges including a pretty sharp hill to climb 4 times for most of us.
There was a reasonable turnout out from most clubs but sadly other races and suspected XC burnout led to only 7 striders running across the 3 different races. There was a whole bunch of silverware on offer but unfortuately not much of it came the way of the SYCAA XC champions – ie, us! Hopefully, we can get a better turnout next year and clear up some silverware.
Race 1 5k Women 45+ and Men 70+
This race had 67 entrants and was won by Sarah Bevan of Keighley & Craven in 22.20. Congratulations to the only Striders team in the competition who came out with 3rd place women in the F45-54 category. Also congratulations to Kate Scott for her 3rd place in the FV55 category.
