Stood in a club bar next to a go cart track on Sunday morning…..waiting for the start of a race I think alot of us were secretly hoping would get cancelled due to Storm Dennis, don’t be daft we’re from Yorkshire just a bit of wind and rain get your jacket on and get going!

The race sets of with a 1/2 mile loop of the go cart track with an improvised loop due to flooding. You then turn off and run up and up for another mile and a half at which point me & Cara are discussing today as a easy run with no fast pace!

Well approximately 5 mins later were off downhill picking up our pace and passing other runners, the roads aren’t closed on this race so you have to watch for traffic hurtling along and some roads with no marshalls on means a slow down and quick check for cars.

All downhill and back onto the track for another 1/2 mile loop the twists and turns really testing your pace. Me and Cara finish together with a fab sprint across the line.

Several striders attending this year and special mention to Helen Eberlin on picking up FV 70 prize!

The race was won by Gary Briscoe (Penistone Footpath Runners) in 27:03 and first woman was Lyndsey Eastman (Kimberworth Striders) in 31:19.  There were 308 finishers.
