Race Date: Sunday 1st September 2019
The Wilne 10k takes place on country lanes south-east of Derby. With a fast course and easy access down the M1, it has a bit of a following among Striders in the know. The race usually hosts county and/or regional championships, so the standard of competition is always good, as the sub-30 course record reflects.
Of the thousand runners to cross the start line this year, only three were Striders, and a niggly hamstring meant that only two of them crossed the finish line. Regular Dan Cubitt was the first Strider in 39:30, and Luke Prest bagged his first sub-45 10k with a 44:38. Well done to both.
The men’s and women’s races were both won by Notts AC runners: Alastair Watson in 30:55 and Samantha Harrison in 33:29.
