Race Date:1st April
There was a massive turnout for the first trunce of the season on a bright evening, so the 50p price hike in the entry fee does not seem to have put people off! Some 320 finishers included 35 striders. The queue for the first kissing gate must have reached quite a length!
The race was won by Tom Saville of Dark Peak in 24:45 and Nicola Squires of Hallamshire Harriers in 29:09.
Conditions were good with bone dry ground (apart from in the rivers) and there were PBs a plenty. Note that for Vets, a trunce PB in the first race does not always mean an all time best trunce time as “The PB for Vets is set at the beginning of the season to be the average time of the last four races that the runner completed.” So now you know!
Commiserations to Victoria Hawkins whose defence of her VF50 crown did not get off to a good start with her first ever trunce fall necessitating a trip to A+E with a very swollen twisted ankle. Get well soon Queen Vic!
