Race date: Saturday August 17th 2019
Run to the Castle is a biannual event, also run in December, which takes runners and walkers from the coastal village of Aberdyfi up the beautiful coastal path, along the seafront at Tywyn, the village of Fairbourne, the famous Fairborne bridge, Barmouth, and finishes in the castle town of Harlech which is approx 40/42 miles away. Runners can also take part in the marathon event from Aberdyfi to Barmouth.
Alan Evans, our only Strider on the day from a field of 43, described it as a beautiful coastal ultra, with weather to match, but where the going got very tough after passing through the marathon mark including several miles of running on sand and some tricky navigation.
Tom Randall was first home in 6:24:56:00 with Sarah Morwood first lady in 6:53:15:04. Alan secured ninth spot with his time of 9:07:33:10.
