Race Date: Wednesday 3rd July 2019
The Roche Abbey Dash is an excellent mixed trail race organised by Maltby Running Club, an out and back route starting in the former pit village of Maltby and making its way to the historical and picturesque ruins of Roche Abbey. The race is part of the 12-event ‘KMR’ series, organised between the three active running clubs in the Rotherham Borough, and is a popular draw on a warm summers’ night.
171 contested the 2019 race, and first back to the Catholic Club was Ben Hague of Rotherham Harriers in 25:09. Catherine Eddison, also of Rotherham Harriers, was first lady in 30:23, who was joined on the female podium by Strider Sarah Allcard in third place with a time of 35:14. Two other Striders were in attendance, Phil Howson and Simon Gleadhall coming home in 36:53 and 44:17 respectively. Possible age-category podium places may have also been possible, but unfortunately the results don’t record these things. Well done all!
