Race date 16 June 2019
This was only the second running of the Pontefract 10k which is run in memory of local business owner George Percival’s mum May, who was cared for by the Prince of Wales hospice. Georgia created the event in her home town to help raise money towards the £3m annual running costs of the hospice. It is a fully closed-road event with the start and finish at Pontefract Park.
673 runners completed the race. It was won by Ben Butler of Wakefield Harriers in a time of 34:43. Sarah Hunter of Ackworth road Runners was first lady in 39:12. Simon Ross was the only Strider on the day, finishing in a time of 41:58 and claiming 35th position.
