Race date Sunday 27 January 2019, report by Nick Booker
The waterway 30 is really 32 miles. The route takes in the scenic rural countryside of Nottinghamshires, using a combination of two main local waterway tow paths. The “cuckoo way” (Chesterfield Canal) and “Trent valley way ” (River Trent). With simple navigation and good conditions, mainly sunny with 4 Striders setting of and 4 finishing, all made a enjoyable day.
It has a real cross country feel at times in remote areas given the nature of the River Trent flood bank which makes this route so varied and different to many other trail races.
90% Trail with only some minor roads/tracks along the Trent Valley Way to link waterways. Some of the flood bank running by the side of the Trent is rough underfoot providing a real challenge!
164 runners finished. First male Paul Richardson in 3h 52m 14s (Garden city Runners) First female Melissa Venables 4h 28min 58s (Spar Striders)
