Race report by Fran Cummins
Great Longstone Fell Race marks the end of the summer for many fell runners, with it being the last evening race of the year.
It is a typical fell race: lap of a sports pitch, up a hill for a couple of miles, across a beautiful Derbyshire moor, tough uphill bit on a road and then a lovely runnable descent through fields to arrive back on the sports pitch in the village.
Local celebrity Roy Hattersley starts the race and presents the prizes (although issues with the timing on the night meant the prizes were all wrong or mixed up, so the prize giving was abandoned!)
This year there were 13 striders out of the 207 runners. It was won by Simon Fisher from Belper Harriers in 29.44. I was first lady in 34.46.
