Edinburgh Marathon 2019

Race date 26 May 2019

Fast & flat, this course was voted the fastest marathon in the UK by Runners World, ideal if it’s your first marathon or you are looking for a PB. The Edinburgh Marathon has sold out every year since 2008 and is the second largest marathon in the UK, behind only London. It’s part of a festival of running, with participants having a choice of 5k, 10k and a half marathon as well over the weekend.

Ben Stittle, the first of a half-dozen Striders to finish, described it as “very well organised with great support. We started in the rain and finished in the sun. First 5 miles are downhill. 8 miles of headwind on the way back in. Very scenic at first, then along the coast for 20 miles out and back.”

7,303 runners finished the marathon. It race was won by Dan Tanui in a time of 2:30:13, Melanie Wilkins was first lady in 2:42:56.
