Race report by David Forrest
Having read about this race this time last year in another run report, I realised I wasn’t only the Strider who spends Christmas in Hull and resolved to give the 2018 East Hull Harriers Boxing Day 10k a go. This is a fantastically well-organised event, with a very flat, PB-friendly course on roads and smooth country paths showing off some very pleasant views. I turned up on the day and paid £6 for entry, but advance entry is only a fiver. East Hull Harriers are celebrating their 125th year, so we all got a pack of specially designed race number clips, too.
Personally, the excesses of the previous day meant this race was a bit of a challenge, but the conditions were great and I managed to pull a PB out of the bag.
270 runners finished the race, which was won by Jonathan Carter of Tipton Harriers in 33:18. First female was a junior, Becky Briggs from City of Hull, in 34:09.
