Race Date : Wednesday 10th July 2019
The route consists of 3 laps of Doncaster town centre and if you are looking for a flat fast 5k (that isn’t parkrun) with the added incentive of occasional “encouragement” from inebriated locals enjoying an early evening drink then you can’t go far wrong with the Doncaster 5k. Clashes with the Crosspool Crawl and a track meet at Woodburn Road may have impacted on the number of striders turning out, however many of those who did toe the line were rewarded with personal or seasons best times.
There are 2 races, a Vets race at 7:30 followed by an Open race at 8:00. The Vets race was won by Carl Ryde from Doncaster AC in a time of 16:15. The 1st lady home was Fiona Davies from Rotherham Harriers in a time of 18:03. The Open race was won by Jonathan Shields from Sheffield & Dearne AC in a time of 14:48. 1st lady home was Abbie Donnelly from Lincoln Wellington in a time of 16:11.
An honourable mention must also go to Tom Halloway who following his big money transfer to Rotherham ran a speedy PB of 15:45.
