Race Date: 27th October

It was a beautiful sunny but windy day by the canal, perfect running conditions. However due to the 24 hours of persistent rain the day before the ground was very muddy with rather large puddles which some decided to dodge or others like me just bounded through them.
The 8k course started at the Victoria quays, the route headed out along the Tinsley canal, which took us through very narrow paths and under low bridges so there was a bit of bobbing down and dodging others. We went over the old bridge and then the course opened up into the Olympic legacy park to run a loop where we passed the Olympic flame. The course then went back over the old bridge and we returned to the Victoria quays. There was a lovely atmosphere and even some runners wore costumes like “Where’s Wally”.
Harvey martin was the winner coming in at 28:50 and the first female was Fleur Roberts at 40:15
An excellent race for those new to longer distances that want to challenge themselves or to just have fun and run in a group this is a perfect course.
