Race Date 26 December 2018
A 4.3 mile road and trail race starting in the village of Braithwell across fields and along (mostly) quiet roads with a lap of the local quarry, Braithwell Boxing Day Race (aka the Turkey Trot) is the perfect way to blow away the Christmas cobwebs before it all starts again later in the day. Registration is a fiver in the Butcher’s Arms in the village, where many runners congregate afterwards for a festive drink. Fancy dress is positively encouraged, as is the lie-in afforded by the generous 11am start.
202 runners took part, with Elliot Smales of Rotherham first home in a time of 0:22:56:11. Lindsy James of Kimberworth took the ladies’ spoils in a time of 028:40:40. Nick Booker was the fastest of seven Striders.
