While other Striders took on the London marathon, I rocked up at Blackpool for the marathon there, organised by Fylde Coast Runners.

On arrival on Saturday the weather was awful, the tail of Storm Hannah brought heavy rain and 50mph winds. If it was like this on Sunday, then no way I was doing it.

But on Sunday, the race day weather had calmed down a lot, so Striders vest on and off I went.

The route is a very flat PB-friendly course of two laps of the Blackpool Golden Miles.

An enjoyable and well organised event with great support by everyone along the way, especially by my wife Gayle and Strider Dog Charlie

I finished the race in 4hrs 24m which is a 31 min PB for a Marathon 😊

The male winner was Ugis Datavs of Weshem Road Runners & AC in 2:48:18 and Female Sally Wallis of Deeside Runners in 3:18:13.
