Following the Beast from the East, and the generally wet weather over the last month, the decision was made to move the finish line of the Wakefield 10k to avoid the planned grassy surfaces. Having never run this race before I am not sure what impact this might have had on the course. Luckily, today’s weather was the complete opposite. The sun was shining. The skies were blue. And my first race as a Strider was a thoroughly enjoyable one, with my chip time a PB of 58:42.

Despite keeping an eye out for any other members of the green and gold army, I failed to spot James Hunter whose finish time was 01:01:26. Ahead of my official finish time of 1:02:49.

The race winner was Brendan Moody of Barnsley AC in 33:10 and first female finishing in 8th place was Sarah Potter of the University of Sheffield Athletics Club in 35:46. Overall 1566 runners finished.
