Race Date: Saturday 30th June 2018
A festival of running with races for U9, U11, U13, U15, U17, U19 and Seniors.
A brief report from Tom Nuttgens:
Up the Nab is a 4 mile fell race above Glossop with a climb of 1197 feet. At the top you have sweeping views of the Longenden Valley over Glossop; and on the day you could see the burned moorland after the fires, with wisps of delicate smoke. But, to be honest it’s a brutal ascent/descent/ascent/descent over moorland, at one point clambering up an incline over billberry bushes with no discernible path. The day was a hot 25 degrees and the organisers kindly soaked me with a cold water hose on finishing. I was 34 out of 36 runners (got a bit lost at the end as the marshalls had wandered off). So in summary – don’t bother. That would explain why I was the only Strider in attendance.
36 people took part in the Senior race and it was won by Simon Bailey of Mercia Runners in 26.13. The first woman home was Caitlin Rice of Ribble Valley Harriers in 32.02. Well done to Tom Nuttgens as the sole Strider representative.
