Race Date: Sunday 28th January 2018
Race Report by Adam McAuley
Many club members will be familiar with the now well-established Trust10 event which takes place at the National Trust’s Longshaw Estate once a month. However there may be some members who are not aware of this excellent and free racing opportunity. The route follows a two lap course of approximately 10k (with the option of doing a single lap of 5k).
The route uses good trails with some short technical off-road sections, but is suitable for runners of all abilities. The event has understandably grown in popularity over the last couple of years and 222 runners completed the two lap course on this chilly, muddy January morning, despite local competition from the Tigger Tor fell race the same day. This included a field of fourteen Striders. The sharp eyed will notice that my name is missing from the list of finishers; having promised to complete the race report, I managed to take a fairly spectacular tumble after 2km, on one of the more muddy, technical sections and secured my first ever DNF. Sincere thanks to the many Striders who asked if I was OK as I hobbled back to the start.
The next run is on Sunday 25 February 9.00am start. I’m hoping to participate and complete the course at this one.

The first male finisher was Nick Taylor in a time of 40:41. The first female finisher was Natalie Neville of Sheffield Triathlon Club in 47:20. The first Strider home was Simon Bennett in 45:48

One oddity in the results is that we have two times, both with the same bib number for James Hogg. James, if you’d like us to correct the record, do get in touch and let us know if you were 11th or 167th.
