Race date: 4th November 2018
2018 saw the 4th running of the Peak District Autumn Trail Running Series. Using a similar format to the very popular Spring Series it offers two courses at each of the three events: a long route with a distance between 14-17km and a shorter version of 4-7km. With both routes we aim to provide a course that offers a combination of high quality trail/off-road running and glorious Peak District scenery.
The 3rd and final round took place at Buxton in the stunning scenery of the Goyt Valley.
Long – 16.4 km/10.2 miles
Short – 6.9 km/4.3 miles
Striders were represented by Adrian Moss in the long course. Comments by Adrian below:
The final race in a great series, foggy start, with a climb up onto the moors, then a run round the reservoir. We had been warned about another event in the area (NB: This was the Peak Raid round 2. Race report to be published seperately) but always a bit disconcerting to see people running opposite way. This lead to a climb up through the woods, a normal trail race I thought, then it warmed up into more of a fell climb up onto the tops, with falling temperatures and increasing fog. Route was sign posted but at 800m to go, fog and an unclear grass path did make me concerned, luckily the finish appeared. Had a sprint finish with the girl who had followed me for 9.5 miles. The traditional buffet and drink awaited. A well organised series around the Peak District which keeps my running mojo alive.
The winning male was Andy Harding in 1 hour 10 minutes and 1 second
The winning female was Carla Brown in 1 hour 24 minutes and 28 seconds
162 runners completed the event.
Adrian came in 74th in 1 hour 45 minutes and 7 seconds.
