Race Date: 29th Sept
Lost Lad Fell race, organised by Peakrunners, was a new 8.5 mile race for 2018, involving gaining, traversing and descending from Derwent Edge, so in some respects similar to our very own Salt Cellar race, but with a mile or so of road running at both start and finish and less technical descents.
It turned out to be a beautiful sunny morning and all the kit requirements were promptly dropped.
Numbers were a little on the low side with only 55 starters. I wonder if it had been made clear on the website that entries on the day were allowed, whether more runners may have turned out? I suspect the field will be bigger next year.
The race was won by Jordan Steeet in 01:02:33 with our very own Fran Cummins the First Lady home in 01:14:58
Mark Platton was first strider home, despite taking a proper tumble at the start of the descent which left him bloodied and winded, but did not slow him down enough for me to catch him up.
