Race Date: Thursday 21st June 2018

Billed as a fell race suitable for newcomers to the discipline, the Grindleford Fell Race is a 4.5 mile route from Grindleford playing fields through Hay Wood, the Longshore Estate and back through Padley Gorge. The celebrated river crossing within site of the finishing line offers excellent spectating opportunities, so the race blurb says, and the race requires no local knowledge or navigational skills.

45 Striders took the trip to the peaks to participate, joining a total field of 296 runners.  The women’s race was won – on her birthday (many happy returns) – by our own Caroline Brock in 36:49.  The men’s race winner was Lee Kemp of Totley AC in 32:16. First Strider across the line was Luke Desforges in 36:37.  Well done to all who ran.
