Race Date: Wednesday 18th July 2018
I was the first and last Strider home at the Durham City 10k on Wednesday night. There was a 5k and a 10k which helped make it an inclusive event for me and some work colleagues. The races were started by Steve Cram in the beautiful city centre and were both challenging in terms of ascent, cobbles and sharp bends. The finish was a tough climb up a narrow cobbled street to the cathedral. There was a lot of retching going on at the finish line, even by the time I got there.
1797 runners completed the 10k. First man was Stephen Jackson of Elvet Striders in 33:36. First lady was Tracey Millmore of Birtley AC in 38:33.
I finished in 50:46.
