Carsington 10k 2018 Results and Report

Race date: Saturday 24th February 2018

This trail 10k runs (literally) alongside the half marathon and is also organised by Nice Work.

Report by Sarah Uttley.

On arrival there was plenty of parking available, costing around £4 for the day. Buses were provided to ferry runners to the starting area which was about 10 mins up the road from the visitor centre.  Unfortunately the start was delayed which left us waiting around in a biting wind, with no place to shelter 😕

Busy start as both the HM and the 10k runners set off at the same time on the undulating, traffic-free trails around Carsington Water. With a water station at 6k and refreshments (including Jaffa cakes and fig rolls!) at the finish we were well catered for.

Bit of bling for all finishers rounded off the morning nicely. Well done to the Striders who ran the HM!

Results:

The race winner was Simon Ford of Trentham Running Club in 37:10; Simon was followed by the first woman home Alice Maughan (unattached) in 45:19.  273 runners competed.
